The words we use

A common problem when writing is what is called lexical scope. " We use a limited flow of words and expressions, although we know other words and their meanings, we understand perfectly when we read. But why not use them to write?

writing exercise modes

to "learn" to write is to "go write." Maybe, as Borges said that " a sensible line of news just be millions of senseless cacophonies, verbal jumbles and inconsistencies." Anyway, it is always possible to suggest some exercises to walk the path of writing. Here's one that I find especially attractive.

Je me souviens (I remember )

Georges Perec in his book published in 1978 under the title "Je me souviens " features 480 notes of up to 10 lines starting with " I remember ..." and is followed by phrases like "... that My father told me how he had seen John Wayne on the set of a movie in the park of El Retiro . "
At the end of the book, Perec left several blank pages for readers-writers to make their own annotations. The proposed e and r is pandering to French author and writing our own memories.

not forget: Each entry
should have a maximum of ten lines and must be personal memories.

What makes this exercise:
Helps simplify the expression of ideas, memory exercise, broaden the pool of words we use to write and take time to write. Generates less shame
keep a diary. It is also very rewarding for those who tend to "hang" with a blank page because you do not know where to start ...

Copy and paste: the problem of intellectual honesty

: in academia, including the citation and plagiarism, is a practice that goes against the establishment and, worse still, against the development of critical thinking and independent. Copy and paste has become a habit when it comes to "disengage materials, to produce a repeat presentations, articles, chapters," arm "texts to score points in a scene in which the deadlines are unstoppable happen.

Copy and paste can mean so much effort as writing "honestly" as a theme, involves searching text, read, select pieces, baste, give them minimal coherence to "convince" the other that one has done their job.
It is not hard to redirect the effort to develop their own text and, most importantly, answer a fundamental question: why write ?

entire process of writing draws before, during and after- reading. Read more to go with the sight lines from left to right and from top to bottom trying to hold an argument (literary, scientific research, information ...). Read shoot, like a loaded gun, creativity. Reading helps establish structures to expand the vocabulary, to baste the text.
reading can be enjoyed, if we find the author to the extent of our concerns. And it can be a tool for those who need-for-work-type angle or urgency. TIP: Have
a while, say, ten to fifteen minutes. Take a pencil and a text (any).
